Skills and Experience

Peter has skills in

  • cognitive, behavioural and developmental assessment, and formulating complex needs using a variety of scientific models
  • giving verbal and written information in ways that are accessible to those that need to understand (e.g. young people, parents, carers, judges and juries)
  • providing psychological treatment via individual, family and group interventions
  • collaborating with clients, parents, voluntary organisations, and legal professionals
  • teaching and supervising others in psychological skills

Peter has worked with people in a variety of settings, including specialist clinics, health centres, general and mental health wards, mainstream and special schools, resource centres, challenging behaviour units, and prisons.

Peter has worked with pre-school and school-aged children, adolescents, adults and older adults. He has worked with people across the ability range, and with a variety of diagnosed conditions, including Tourette’s syndrome, Irlen syndrome and Attention Deficit Disorder. Peter is particularly aware of the "invisible end of the spectrum", that is, females with sometimes subtle but disabling social communication difficulties.

Qualifications and Affiliations

  • BSc (First Class Honours) in Psychology from the University of London, Goldsmiths College
  • MPhil in Psychopathology from Cambridge University
  • Diploma in Clinical Psychology from the British Psychological Society
  • Diploma in Forensic and Legal Psychology from Leicester University
  • Accreditation and Licensed User for the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) from the National Autistic Society, Lorna Wing Centre for Autism, Bromley.

Peter's post-qualification clinical training has included workshops on TEACCH™ (with Division – TEACCH) and Social Stories™ (with Carol Gray), as well as regular updates on Child Protection.

Peter's post-qualification legal training has included workshops on obtaining and analysing evidence from vulnerable witnesses, report writing, and appearing in Court. He attends an annual conference for Expert Witnesses.
